One Million Dollars Pledged To Help Joplin Residents Recover From Storm

Officials from Convoy of Hope, from Springfield, made the announcement tonight on the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition show. Organizers say the ‘Extreme Hope Fund’ will give financial help to people who are struggling to recover from the storm. The Joplin Long Term Recovery Committee will help find applicants who might be able to take advantage of the program. Convoy of Hope Spokesman Jeff Nene says the disaster in Joplin was so extreme, the group felt it needed an extreme response. “The need was so great, and the need was going to be going on for an extended period of time.” Nene says. “Joplin is a next door neighbor to Springfield where we’re based. So for us, it was a ‘no brainer’ that we wanted to do something special in Joplin.”

If you would like to find out if you qualify for the assistance, you can contact the Joplin Long Term Recovery Committee at (417) 625-9192.
